This chart compares Preston and Boston in terms of sunrise/sunset times as well as total hours of sunlight. Note both the times as well as the total hours of sunlight!! (Ok, sure it is often grey here, but light grey!!)

Well, SURE - in Summer, it works that way, as you're that much closer to the Arctic Circle...the land where the sun never sets...
Go back and compare what happens on December 18, boyo...

Yes - I was just sticking up for my latitude.
The "boyo" was an attempt to make you feel more connected to the land of your passport...
